When clarity becomes a leadership skill

A professional email is a piece of project infrastructure. The reader should be able to scan it and understand the decision, the actions and any date that matters.

Put the purpose in the opening line.

Use bullets for owners and deadlines, and separate a recommendation from a confirmed decision.

Avoid softening every sentence with “maybe” or “just”; a respectful tone can still be direct.

Before sending, check that each action has one owner.

If an email leaves three people believing someone else will respond, it has created work instead of removing it.
